USS Nimitz Strike Group Homecoming
The aircraft carrier USS Nimitz and its strike group returned to San Diego on Friday 26 March 2010 following an eight-month deployment. While overseas the strike group assisted in combat operations in Afghanistan and counter-piracy operations around Africa. The Nimitz Carrier Strike Group left San Diego on 31 July 2010.
To celebrate their return USS Nimitz MWR department in conjunction with Navy AutoSource raffled off a 2010 Ford Mustang and a 2009 Harley Davidson Fat Bob through MWR “Big Bucks” bingo games. Both the Ford Mustang and the Harley Davidson were waiting on the pier along with over 7000 families and friends when Nimitz returned to San Diego.
The winner of the Ford Mustang was HM2 SHANE S TONG and the winner of the Harley-Davidson Fat Bob was AN Katherine J Knipfer.
